Responsibilities
You will:
Develop and execute government and stakeholder relations strategies to promote and broaden awareness of the organization, its brand and products with key federal, provincial and municipal government audiences.
Manage organizational updates and responses to legislative, regulatory and public policy changes impacting the organization, monitoring and assessing new developments and collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop action-oriented plans.
Support the delivery of public affairs strategies to promote the company with public sector audiences, including media relations, digital content development, thought leadership/speaking opportunities and social media.
Develop strategies that enable go-to-market and business development for their products focused on the public sector, advising colleagues on strategy and supporting outreach and engagement efforts.
Build and maintain a network within government and with relevant industry associations while understanding who is supporting priorities and who is opposing.
Assist with issues management, providing counsel on public sector risks and working with the corporate communications team to build and protect corporate reputation.
Tell the corporate story and influence government and stakeholder audiences through the identification and delivery of executive and employee thought leadership and communications opportunities.
Evaluate and manage organizational responses to inquiries from elected and non-elected decision makers.
Qualifications
** Must-Have Skills **:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience working in government (policy or communications roles preferred), government relations (either in house or in consulting), public affairs, communications or a mix of these.
Must be eligible to work for in Canada in a Full Time Capacity
Deep knowledge of Canadian federal government, including structure, functions, political organization and policy/regulatory development process. Provincial and municipal government knowledge also an asset.
Understanding of policy and regulatory landscape specific to financial services and payments is an asset.
Experience in political writing and writing tailored to government audiences, public affairs strategy development and ‘PR for GR’.
A self-starter who can work quickly and efficiently, juggling multiple projects and deadlines at once.
Experienced manager who can think strategically and execute tactically, distilling complex ideas into simple, compelling narratives to educate, influence and engage.
Proven ability to work directly with politicians, C-suite executives, leadership and cross-functional teams.
A problem solver who can deal with difficult, changing or uncertain situations, apply creativity to problem solve, and have a positive, collaborative attitude towards getting the job done.
