HR Generalist | Thornhill

Our client is a community-based organization devoted to providing exceptional school-age child care in safe, stimulating, and culturally dynamic environments. We are partnering with them in order to help them hire their first ever Human Resources professional to lead all People & Culture initiatives.

If you have any volunteer or professional experience within the education sector that would be a plus!

What you’ll be doing:
• Employee Relations – Develop and maintain effective employee relations, act as a point of contact for inquiries about employee issues, HR policies, benefits, etc.
• HR administration – updating and maintaining employee files, return to work programs, producing key HR reports, preparing documents, offer letters, termination packages
• Recruitment – Full cycle recruitment (sourcing, interviews, managing offers, references), building candidate pipelines and creating positive candidate experiences
• Management Relations – helping managers optimize their teams, develop relationships, act as an advisor on all things HR, assist with workforce and succession planning
• Performance management – Assist managers with developing performance plans, identify training and development opportunities, coach managers on discipline issues, assist with the performance appraisal process
• Training – identify training opportunities, maintain training records
• Other HR Functions – develop and deliver communication pieces, provide education on HR policies and procedures, special projects as needed

Do you have the right qualifications?
• Degree/ Diploma in Human Resources Management or related field, CHRP/L or working towards the designation
• Education industry experience is an asset
• Minimum of 4 years of dedicated HR experience, including 2 in a generalist capacity
• Knowledgeable about MOL, MOE, ESA, WISB, Health & Safety
• Comfortable taking initiative and showing good judgment
• Ability to collaborate and work with all levels of employees and managers
• Confidence to bring ideas to the table
• Flexible and adaptable, ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
• Strong attention to detail
