Human Resources Specialist
Start-Up | North York


Our client in North York is currently looking for a Human Resources Specialist to build out their HR Dept. Reporting to the Owner, you will build, enhance, and maintain the organization's People & Culture Practice by developing, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Human Resources experience in a "building" position.

What you’ll be doing:
• Analyzes job requirements for all existing and new roles within the organization, and maintains and updates job descriptions for all positions.
• Maintains organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.
• Scheduling and conducting job evaluations; ensuring individual pay actions are sent for processing to Payroll.
• Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee issues; counselling employees and supervisors.
• Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and provincial requirements.
• Responsible for conducting investigations; maintaining accurate records; representing the organization at hearings, if needed.
• Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.

Do you have the right qualifications?
• Minimum of 5+ year of experience in Human Resources (Generalist/Manager)
• Experience working in a small, start-up culture
• Strong command of Employment Law & OHRC knowledge.
• College or University Degree in Human Resources Management or related field; CHRP is an asset
• Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with Owners and other levels of personnel.
• Ability to maintain effective and productive working relationships with all company locations and departments.
