    Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
    The Infrastructure Operation and Support specialist (IOSS) is responsible for providing technical support for
    on premises technology infrastructure by overseeing operations of the physical and virtual infrastructure
    including performing administration and maintenance. Additionally, the IOSS is responsible for ongoing
    support operations for disaster recovery to ensure the effective backup and recovery of CDIC data. The
    IOSS is also responsible for performing complex Local Area Network (LAN) administration functions and
    provide second level support to the ServiceDesk as required. 
     
    The key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
    a) Test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop
    strategies for maintaining network infrastructure
    b) Consolidate parallel networks onto a shared public or private infrastructure and integrate networks of
    recently merged or acquired enterprises into the original enterprise's network system
    c) Provide technical planning and support for a medium complexity network with some Virtual Private
    Network (VPN) connectivity
    d) Provide technical planning and support for high-end core Local Area Network (LAN) switching
    products, including layer-3 switching
    e) Support a production TCP/IP wide-area network
    f) Provide Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), point-to-point and multipoint designs
    g) Develop and maintain network system documentation
    h) Perform network troubleshooting
    i) Review coding and error detection methodologies
    j) Collect and preserve evidence to be admissible in court if needed
    k) Support the development of business cases
    l) Provide input into network modeling and simulation exercises
    m) Interpret the need of applications and users into logical designs, SLAs and network management
    practices
    n) Write technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and perform evaluations of technical proposals for
    network related RFPs in a public sector environment
    o) Assess the impact of new applications and application changes in the network
    p) Lead technical teams in specific network improvement and upgrade projects
    q) Provide TCP/IP Network Management
    r) Review communications over local and wide area networks as to their ability to support data
    processing requirements
    s) Recommend changes to transmission networks, both in terms of hardware devices and switching
    points required to improve network performance
    t) Participate in the analysis, design, and implementation of communication networks for data
    processing transmissions requirements
    u) Support and manage storage, including Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network-Attached Storage
    (NAS) types
    v) Design and recommend short and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets
    existing and future requirements
    w) Review cabling standards and building designs
    x) Provide networking solutions to all server platforms
    y) Research, test and recommend the adoption of new technologies, hardware, and software and
    network protocols to enhance data processing requirements
    z) Recommend and coordinate the removal of outdated technologies, software and network protocols
    while maintaining or enhancing existing data processing requirements
    aa) Analyze, make recommendations, and implement various virtualization projects / initiatives
    bb) Provide technical support for on premises and Cloud (Azure and O365) technology; and 
    cc) support operations for disaster recovery to ensure the effective backup and recovery of CDIC data.

    Additional Resource Requirements:
    The Proposed Assigned Persons (Resources) should have the following requirements, at a minimum:
    a) Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field such as Computer Technology, Networking,
    Computer Science, or related field, or combined education and work experience
    b) Experience in providing 2nd/3rd level SME support to end users
    c) Strong knowledge of on premises physical and virtual infrastructure
    d) Strong knowledge of Group Policy, scripts, PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory, Microsoft Application
    Virtualization (App-v)
    e) Extensive knowledge of storage and backup solutions, Veeam Backup and replication and Azure
    Backup and Site Recovery
    f) Reliability security clearance
    The following requirements are considered an asset:
    a) Current VMware and Data Center Administration certifications
    b) Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or equivalent Microsoft Certifications
    c) Experience with scripting languages for infrastructure automation

    Additional Resource Requirements:
    The Proposed Assigned Persons (Resources) should have the following requirements, at a minimum:
    a) Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field such as Computer Technology, Networking,
    Computer Science, or related field, or combined education and work experience
    b) Experience in providing 2nd/3rd level SME support to end users
    c) Strong knowledge of on premises physical and virtual infrastructure
    d) Strong knowledge of Group Policy, scripts, PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory, Microsoft Application
    Virtualization (App-v)
    e) Extensive knowledge of storage and backup solutions, Veeam Backup and replication and Azure
    Backup and Site Recovery
    f) Reliability security clearance
    The following requirements are considered an asset:
    a) Current VMware and Data Center Administration certifications
    b) Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or equivalent Microsoft Certifications
    c) Experience with scripting languages for infrastructure automation
    d) Extensive experience with PowerShell – Exchange PowerShell – Azure PowerShell
    e) Extensive experience managing and optimizing Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2019, Active
    Directory Domain Services, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Exchange, VMware 6.5, Azure Cloud Services,
    Office 365, SQL
    f) Excellent knowledge of best practices around ITSM change management, Problem management
    and Incident management.
    g) Good knowledge of access control lists, advanced Group Policy Management, Windows Deployment
    Services and Windows Server Update Services management.
    NOTE: Proposed Assigned Persons (Resources) not meeting the minimum requirements may achieve a
    lower score.
