Our Client, a multidisciplinary, employee-owned consulting firm with decades of industry presence, has partnered with Randstad Engineering in their search for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in Ottawa.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Collaborating with team members (especially mechanical/process) as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary project team, including execution, design, and reporting;
- Engaging through all project stages, from definition, through planning, design, and construction using your demonstrated abilities to recognize opportunities, understand client needs and manage and deliver projects
- Engineering and contract administration related to plant\environmental and municipal design and construction projects;
- Liaising with clients, engagement and leadership of business and client development activities;
- Carrying out visits to construction sites and reporting on observations;
- Participating in the preparation of proposals, reports, specifications, and budget estimates; and
- All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Must have a recognized degree in Electrical Engineering and hold a license to practice engineering in the Province of Ontario or Canada;
- Must have a minimum of five (5) – nine (9) years of related experience since graduating from an accredited program;
- Strong background in the design of instrumentation and control systems;
- Broad application knowledge of PLC, industrial HMI, SCADA, and closed-loop control systems;
- Experience with Motor Controls and Drives;
- Familiarity with a broad range of process control instrumentation;
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs and control descriptions;
- Ability to generate control system architecture based on mechanical and process requirements (Control narrative, flow charts, IO list, interlocks, safety zones, operator interface, networking, schematics, etc.);
- Knowledge of electrical equipment installation design such as equipment layout, cable trays, and instrumentation mounting;
- Familiarity with industrial communication systems (Modbus, Fieldbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, DeviceNET);
- Ability to plan and execute FATs and SATs, installation, commissioning and testing of new equipment and processes;
- Related industry experience in water/wastewater, oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical;
- Well-developed computer and analytical skills;
- Knowledge of relevant design guidelines and methodologies;
- Effective communication both orally and in written form;
- Highly self-motivated and a self-starter;
- Ability to work in diverse and varied teams; and
- Valid driver’s license.
