Responsibilities
What you’ll do here:
• Management of internal monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting by working closely with various departments such as other finance teams.
• Perform complex reinsurance journal entries and ensure the accuracy of the financial results under your responsibility.
• Participate in the financial systems and accounting processes improvement initiatives.
• Simplify, standardize, secure and increase controls of different work files.
• Participate in various projects within the finance/reinsurance department.
• Perform various monthly and quarterly analysis. Understand the insurance results and be able to explain variances versus comparative periods and plan.
• Ensure efficient and optimal use of systems as the primary source of data for the production and analysis of reinsurance results.
• Liaison with auditors during the internal and external audit process.
• Maintain a robust internal control environment. Participate in updating 52-109 documentation and ensure the accuracy of the verification evidence for testing.
Qualifications
What you bring to the table:
• Professional accounting designation (CPA) or any combination of equivalent education and experience
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards and/or finance
• Experience in Insurance/Reinsurance accounting is an asset
• Fast learning, agility and adaptability to change
• Discipline, autonomy and professionalism
• Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Can interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders
• [Bilingual (French and English)] Need to interact on a regular basis with an English-speaking clientele and colleagues across the country.
• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
