Responsibilities
-Develops or assists with creating test plans and procedures documents; conducts detailed tests as part of verification and validation process; makes recommendations for changes in product or test method as required.
- Records numerical and graphical data; analyzes calculates, and reports the test outcomes ensuring that the results are in relation to design specifications and test objectives; writes test reports.
- Produces draft sketches and/or drawings, or requests detailed drawings to be produced by the internal Engineering/CAD department to obtain quotations and parts fabrication by internal or external machine shops.
- Assists in the assembling, re-building, and set up of existing lab test rigs that need upgrading; suggests/conducts modifications or adjustments to equipment to meet specifications, and assists with troubleshooting technical problems when necessary.
- When required, performs or assists with assembly, installation, and commissioning activities for NPD prototypes that are being manufactured and/or field-tested; may train personnel from other departments and distributors.
- Participates in accomplishing other project tasks as assigned by the NPD Manager (or an NPD Project Lead).
- Uses test equipment for testing materials, gathers data and provides data analysis on findings, and occasionally gives presentations to fellow team members, supervisors, and personnel from other departments.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of College or University Education in Chemistry, Material Science or Chemical Engineering, graduating with a B.Sc. Degree.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience as a Chemist or Chemical Engineering position is a must.
- Knowledge and exposure to Project Management basics are preferable
• Good knowledge of the disciplines of chemical engineering and/or polymer science at the position level, to be able to perform a variety of polymer development and testing functions.
• Technical curiosity of mechanical systems and hands-on ability to use mechanical tools to assemble, set-up, and troubleshoot issues with non-standard equipment (test rigs).
• Able to prepare cost estimates and quotes; able to participate in NPD procurement activities.
• Proficient to interpret and prepare specifications, to draft or guide technical drawings or instructions.
• Superior technical writing abilities for preparing manuals, procedures, reports, specifications, instructions, and other technical documentation.
• Knowledge in product applications such as marine ship, pump, industrial, power generation, and renewable energy environments to consciously analyze the critical aspects of the environment in the functionality of seals and bearings.
• Skilled in handling chemical materials required for daily activities, being aware of the possible hazards, and being able to quickly react to situations following the instructions in the Company’s Health and Safety program.
