Our client, a leader in the education industry, is looking for a Manager of Total Rewards to join their team on a permanent hire basis.The Manager, Total Rewards leads the delivery and administration of a comprehensive total rewards program including compensation, salary planning, bonuses, job architecture, position evaluation,group benefits, and retirement plans. Will ease in to a hybrid model where on-site attendance will be required as needed (depending on needs of stakeholders)ResponsibilitiesKey AccountabilitiesCOMPENSATION:- Design, implement, maintain and ensure compliance with Compensation Philosophy, Guiding Principles, Framework and Policies and proactively evaluate the compensation landscape,considering leading practices, industry research, employment trends, and changing legislation to make recommendations to the compensation program and total rewards profile- Analyzes compensation-related data to determine the effectiveness of compensation programs and drives enhancements to increase efficiencies, employee engagement, and alignment withHumber’s compensation philosophy.- Lead year-end compensation processes including salary increases, merit payments and cost of living adjustments.- In partnership with key stakeholders, drives solutions and recommendations to compensation issues such as internal equity adjustments, restructures, job evaluations, and collectivebargaining.- Oversee job evaluation and classification process to ensure that positions are compensated appropriately and equitably while complimenting the employee value proposition and improvingHumber’s ability to recruit and retain top talent.- Manage and resolve escalated compensation issues/tickets in accordance with policy, organization values, and employment standards.- Leads annual market benchmarking and outreach efforts to ensure Humber is equipped with relevant data on market rates and total rewards best practices to drive informed compensationdecisions.- In partnership with key stakeholders across the college leads and ensures the college is compliant with Pay Equity- Develops and delivers timely compensation reports and other materials for presentation as requested- Seeks to improve the process, always, with a keen eye to risk mitigation, proper audit protocol and system automation- Participate in the design, implementation, and monitoring of Executive Compensation programs.- Maintain principles of pay equity by maintaining robust and responsive job evaluation systems through the review of new and changing positions.- Chair or delegate a chair for the Support Staff Job Evaluation Process and Committee..- Maintain an equitable and defined job architecturePENSION and BENEFITS::- Plan and direct the implementation and administration of all pension and benefit plans- Develop internal operating procedures and controls for the administering and managing pension and benefits.- Participate in Counsel, College Council, Union and SunLife discussions, making recommendations on effective administration of compensation, pension, and benefit actions/decisions- Responsible for all reporting and keeps abreast of regulatory changes affecting pensions and benefit plans and ensures company pension and benefit plans and practices are in compliancewith external regulatory requirements.- Ensure appropriate governance and oversight around group benefits plans including compliance with all state, provincial and federal regulations as applicableDATA MANAGEMENT, COMPLIANCE and SYSTEM:- Manage data in accordance with the company’s record retention policies and procedures and state and federal laws and regulations. - Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues, records and company information.- Leverage market intelligence to define / refine pay structures that are aligned with our current strategic business requirements.- Lead HRMS system development and deployment of changes in areas of focus.TOTAL REWARDS and LEADERSHIP:- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and trusted advisor to HR Business Partners, Business Leaders and HR on compensation, and position evaluation activities, practices and policy.- Provide advice and analytics to ensure a competitive compensation strategy that considers the provincial and post-secondary sector context, labour market forecasts and the flexibility to respond to changing reward programs.- Develop a broad range or relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.- In partnership with client services, act as a senior escalation point for issues including Unions and cases of arbitration.- Provide recommendations to leadership on the compensation framework, salary adjustments, performance process and cycle, and retention strategies tied to total rewards and engagement.- Lead the implementation of policy changes and the development of effective communications to inform managers and employees of changes.TEAM LEADERSHIP:- Provide team leadership, managing, motivating and leading a mid-sized team ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work performance and customer service and continuous improvement.- Conduct performance reviews on team members, making recommendations for development, performance improvement plans, salary/merit increases.- Make recommendations for team hiring and terminations. Supports the development of proposed budget for unit.QualificationsREQUIRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE- Specialized Degree in HR or related field -5 to 7 years’ experience in Total Rewards (Compensation, Benefits & Pension).- 3-5 years’ experience in position evaluation and performance management.- Advanced capability in MS Excel and other accounting and financial analysis programs.- GBA or CEBS designation (preferred)- Strong Total Rewards industry and market knowledge of the competitive landscape- Ability to present and train individuals on compensation topics- Deep understanding of compensation administration and financial modelling- A team player with a natural propensity to build and leverage strong internal networks to get the job done- experience in using Oracle HCM Core module. (NICE TO HAVE)- Extensive management experience leading a talent retention team of talent and benefits specialists in a large complex organization.- Experience establishing comprehensive, diverse and timely compensation and rewards programs.- Knowledge of the Oracle HCM Core module. (NICE TO HVE)Summary-5 to 7 years’ experience and strong functional knowledge of Total Rewards (Compensation, Benefits and Pension).- - 3-5 years’ experience managing teams ( position evaluation and performance management.)- Education industry experience is ideal , Broader Public sector experience is mandatory-experience in using Oracle HCM Core module.
