job description

Our client offers structural engineering services from concept through construction including planning, conceptual design, engineering design, bid support, construction management, and project close-out. They are seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Vancouver. The ideal candidate will be someone with strong experience in commercial projects and experienced with wood framed, concrete and steel. The Engineer will be highly motivated in being a leader for the company.

Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of municipal, residential, commercial, and industrial projects, including existing buildings and structures.
- Conduct seismic assessments and upgrades of existing buildings and structures.
- Complete structural calculations and prepare and edit structural specifications.
- Assist and provide input in preparing fee proposals and project related documents.
- Coordinate and guide technical staff in preparation of contract drawings and documents for tender and construction
- Coordinate structural designs and documents with other disciplines (Architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and landscaping etc.
- Provide structural engineering support during construction, attend project design and site meetings, and carry out field reviews.
- Interact with Clients and manage customer expectations by providing an excellent service and enhancing the reputation of the firm.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Registered or eligible for Registration within 6 months as a Professional Engineer with APEGBC/APEGA.
- At least 5 years’ experience in Structural Engineering Analysis and Design of concrete and steel structures
- Wood framed experience would be an asset
- Experience in tilt-up construction design methods is an asset.
- Knowledge of North American building design codes and standards, including seismic design and detailing requirements.
- Proficient in general structural engineering design software.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter and team player.
- A valid driver's license.
