Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing:
Serve as the client contact, project managing highway design projects across BC and AB
Direct a team of designers in preparing cost effective, accurate and timely transportation engineering designs and drawings that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards
Develop concept designs and advance them to the detailed design stage, also overseeing cost estimates
Prepare tender document special provisions and specifications
Manage major highway design projects to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved
Transform preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and drawings based on project requirements, using primarily an AutoCAD / Civil 3D platform, as well as other technical software as needed (e.g. Infraworks, Microstation, InRoads, RoadEng)
Communicate and work in an integrated team environment to ensure project schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained
Provide supervision, training and mentorship to junior technical staff.
Contribute to business development, including attendance at industry events and proposal preparation.
Qualifications
Degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus in transportation engineering with at least 5 – 10 years of experience
Experience working with the Ministry of Transportation is preferred
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Some knowledge of relevant transportation planning and traffic engineering policies and procedures in Western Canada
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Effective people, client and project management skills
