    The Underwriter, Group Benefits will be accountable for analyzing complex group characteristics and plan
    designs to provide appropriately priced benefit solutions that will attract new business and help retain
    existing clients. With the support of the Director Underwriting, you will lead development of pricing models,
    data analysis, strategies for new pricing & renewals and new product innovations, as well as managing overall
    risk for our block of clients. As an underwriter, you will be responsible for producing and auditing quotes and
    ensure they are produced with meticulous attention to detail; you will also be responsible for training new
    underwriters and developing process documentation.

    Responsibilities
    40%
    Analyze prospective clients to:
    • Evaluate risk and provide comprehensive benefit solutions
    • Accurately price new business opportunities
    • Provide value added underwriting by analyzing client needs and
    developing creative ‘win-win’ solutions

    30%
    Leverage Underwriting Knowledge to:
    • Determine renewal strategies for Benecaid’s various blocks of clients
    and various products and insurance partners
    • Determine approaches to pricing strategies for new products and
    solutions
    • Identify, quantify and manage risks associated to the pricing of
    existing and new clients
    • Manage block performance including looking at creative ways to
    improve that performance

    20%
    Maximize sales and profitability objectives through:
    • Constructive negotiations utilizing underwriting judgment and
    guidelines
    • Active participation in process and product improvement initiatives
    • Coordination with internal partners as needed to resolve client
    requests and issues

    10%
    • Ad Hoc, Miscellaneous and other duties as assigned


    Qualifications
    3-5 years of experience as claims processor or in a related role
    Awareness of the Group Insurance industry and relevant federal and state
    regulations
    Knowledge of underwriting in Group Benefits and product offerings
    Expert in Microsoft Office
    Ability to complete AD Hoc reporting / SQL preferred
    Self-starter with demonstrated ability to prioritize case load
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with
    internal and external clients
    Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
    Ability to work collaboratively as a team and/or independently
    Ability to look at things from a strategic and tactical perspective
    Attention to detail
    Self-motivated to effectively multi-task and be comfortable with tight deadlines;
    results oriented
    Analytical with a problem-solving attitude
    French Bilingual, written and oral communication is an asset
    University Degree in B.Math or College Diploma or equivalent working experience
    Other certifications are an asset
