Responsibilities
- Provides a consolidated view across all of the programs across the Digital Campus Plan and enterprise applications, infrastructure, Digital, strategic and operational initiatives being managed by project managers in Information Technology Services .
• Proactively identifies potential risk events and issues before they occur so that proper mitigating strategies can be developed. Articulates and prioritizes issues and risks at senior executive levels and recommends mitigation strategies for decision makers.
• Establishes and participates in steering committee and stakeholder forums. Provides, program, and/or portfolio reporting to multi-stakeholders at senior executive levels.
• Uses appropriate strategies and actions to overcome resistance to change and capitalize on forces in support of change during all stages of projects - concept, definition, planning, implementation and close-out.
• Promotes OPS I&IT standards and best practices for project management to facilitate control of system quality, adherence to standard methodology and the control of the use of I&IT resources.
Key Duties
ITS Strategic Program Planning
• Provide a consolidated view of the projects across all the programs (and products) and operational initiatives being managed by project managers and leads in ITS
• Collaborates with the Associate Director ITS project portfolio and budget during project intake cycles to determine project scope, complexity, and resource requirements.
• Research, recommend & implement best practices as approved by Senior Leadership in ITS for continuous improvement to services delivered in the project management office.
• Work with the senior project managers and project managers to create and maintain program level plans and reports to be provided to the Directors and Senior Leadership for status updates
• Works to provide the Associate Director ITS project portfolio, PMO
Director and all ITS Senior leaders with a view of the operational
initiatives and projects in the programs and portfolio and ensures that all of this work is represented properly in the project management tool
• Identify and lead the review of any significant initiative(s) or project(s) that are identified from a portfolio view as experiencing challenges and as a result are impacting the work of the larger IT Portfolio. Provide data to the ITS Senior Leadership Team (SLT) so they can determine whether they should continue, be significantly changed, placed on hold, or discontinued
Leadership
• Provide excellence in-coaching, mentoring, and motivate and inspire the senior project managers and team members to achieve excellence in the delivery of project planning, by driving the standards required for the program.
• Communicate broadly and deliver presentations to college wide
committees and senior management on overall program planning for all ITS lead projects
• Participate on college wide committees as required
• Support the Directors in ITS with program level planning to inform their work on all strategic initiatives of the organization
Team Management
• Work with the senior project managers and project managers on how best to distribute and assign work to their teams
Qualifications
SKILLS NEEDED:
= Ideal candidate has 10+ years program and project management experience.
- Education industry experience is preferred
- Experience with Digital transformation initiatives is a big plus
