Our Public Sector client requires a Junior Business Analyst to join them for aninitial 6 month contract.

lThe resource is required to work directly with the business to understand and define their requirements and processes, as well as understanding their future needs. The successful candidate will also work with various technology teams to translate business needs and work through the analysis and development phases, as well as help with various high-level project management activities.

The candidate will provide services under the direction of the Senior Technical Manager, Data Collection Projects team, and Project Manager. The assignment entails working with managers, team leads, program analysts, and subject matter experts

KEY DELIVERABLES:

• Conducts business analysis at varying levels of the project and phase of project to assess clients' business problems or opportunities, documenting the business requirements

• Facilitates workshops to elicit, review and confirm business requirements, business process re-engineering, business models, business rules, user interface design

• Consults with clients to assess their business issues/opportunities and to identify business and technology solutions suited to client needs

• Performs analysis of options, feasibility assessment, financial and cost-benefit studies to provide advice and recommendations on feasibility

SKILLS NEEDED:

Technical Knowledge

• Knowledge of business system technologies

• Experience with systems analysis, design and development methods, techniques, practices and standards

• Knowledge of systems design and development, and related methods, techniques, practices and standards enable you to analyze and define clients' business and information technology requirements

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Excel

• Experience in a BI environment with use of tools such as Cognos, Power BI

• Demonstrated experience with SQL and querying

• Demonstrated experience with statistical modelling using R script and integrating R Script into Power BI is an asset

• Experience with dimensionalized data is an asset

Analytical, Research and Problem-Solving Skills

• Perform analysis of client business needs and recommend systems development solutions

• Research and evaluate recommendations, and manage client relationships

• Identify, research, develop and assess information architecture and data management options, policies, and methods; make recommendations which satisfy general and business needs

• Assessing data sets from various ministry sources;

• Identifying potential gaps in data sets and documenting specific gaps.

• Identifying the need for data sets to improve analysis capability;

• Conducting historical and predictive analytics on relational data sets;

• Document the findings at each phase of work; and • Report the findings to the team.

Required Knowledge / Skills:
• Participate in the analysis, design, development and testing on the new Projects;

• Perform research and data analysis;

• Analyse the new development needs and participate in design of the overall project;

• Record requirements from the Business that makes sense to both Business and IT;

• Participate in the preparation of testing and quality assurance activities;

• Participate in project design and code walk-throughs with an eye on whether the deliverables have met the requirements.

• Explain and present technical analyses, options, proposals, reports and recommendations to
clients;

• Prepare reports, presentations and business cases;

• Strong communication, consultation and interpersonal skills to determine client needs; explain technical concepts to non-technical and technical audiences; establish effective working; relationships with I&IT management, clients, internal and external partners/ stakeholders and
project staff
