The Junior Accountant is a key member of our fast-paced finance team and is dynamic with good communication and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities
General accounting;
Timely month end file preparation, including the review of general ledger activity, preparation of various schedules and analytical review as needed;
Accounting for inventory, goods in transit, advances to suppliers for finished goods, preparing monthly journal entries for Controller’s review, etc.
Work closely with the Director of Finance for Gross margin and key metrics monthly and quarterly analysis and reporting as well as monthly detailed review of costings to ensure accuracy; month end detailed review of on- hand inventory valuation to ensure accuracy; ensure the root causes of anomalies found are addressed and report back to Director;
Bank reconciliations and related backup information;
Review wire payments issued for import shipments and ensure correct and complete;
Participate to establish and maintain internal controls;
Assist in the preparation of year-end and governmental audit files;
Miscellaneous analyses & reporting, collaboration with other departments and a variety of special projects as required by management;
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role
Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities; takes initiative; sense of urgency
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Work in confidence and professionalism, discretion
Process oriented
Very comfortable with technology (knowledge of Momentis and Great Plains is an asset; intermediate excel)
Strong people skills and a team player
Experience in apparel is an asset
