We are seeking an experienced Engineer, ideally with telecom or power distribution experience to lead our clients design engineering team. This is an exceptional opportunity to join an dynamic, growing and innovative company in the Vancouver area.


-Lead team day-to-day, plan work and manage resources. Depending on experience and skill set the team size could range from 5 to 20 people initially

-Manage projects from inception to completion

-Help ensure quality of the work completed by the team (a role shared with another senior engineer)

-Manage the financial and non-financial performance of the team, setting objectives, planning, measuring progress and taking actions to meet objectives

-Mentor, coach and other members of the team, including both Engineers in Training, designers and drafters

-Perform hands-on work for outside plant design

-Preparing civil and cable designs and drawings for GPON/FTTP, copper and RF designs

-Visiting job sites before, during, and after design to collect data and address issues

-Understanding and correctly applying industry specifications and standards

-Help to analyse and continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team through improvements to process, tools and working practices

-Work with the software teams to assist with software development relevant to the Engineering function

-Collaborating with clients to ensure deliverables are met and expectations are exceeded

-Form and maintain positive relationships with clients

-Help support new sales as well as extensions to existing work

-Upholding and promoting adherence to Training, Operating and Health and Safety Procedures;

-Some travel maybe required


-Holds a BASc or BEng degree

-Has a professional engineering certification in Canada, preferably with EGBC or APEGA

-Has 3+ years of experience in outside plant assets for telecommunications, power distribution, underground utilities or a comparable asset class

-Has proven leadership experience with mid size or small teams in an engineering capacity

-Has strong problem solving skills and an eagerness to learn and to teach

-Has a track record of challenging the status quo to find better ways of doing things

-Is proficient in 2D AutoCAD with knowledge of SpatialNet add-in being an asset

-Demonstrates a strong customer service ethos and can build effective, lasting relationships

-Can effectively and efficiently navigate through Microsoft Office and G Suite applications

-Shows a willingness and desire to collaborate, share knowledge and solve unique problems

-Has a proven record of hands on delivery

-Has a keen interest in building a growing business in an entrepreneurial environment with exposure to other operating areas of the business ie. HR, Finance
