Responsibilities
● Manage and develop a portfolio of projects & clients for contaminated sites work, in
either federal or provincial regulated regimes, including, but not limited to: Phase I/II
ESAs, hydrogeological assessments, soil and sediment management, risk
assessments, remediation, solid waste management, air dispersion modelling, and
waste/landfill projects
● Prepare, review, and manage federal/provincial/municipal environmental
assessments, permits, licenses and approvals
● Communicate and collaborate with our engineering and environmental teams and
contribute to the development of junior staff
● Communicate effectively and work with regulators and other stakeholders, with or on
behalf of clients to further project delivery and success. This may include
communications through verbal and written correspondence, leading meetings, and
providing presentations
● Provide advice and strategies to clients for obtaining federal/provincial/ municipal
environmental assessments, permits, licenses and approvals
● Use and develop tracking tools and schedules to track permit timelines and actions
and to manage permit conditions and commitments for compliance tracking and
reporting
● Project management, including the development of scopes, schedules and budgets,
proposals and overseeing of junior to intermediate staff
● Develop business with existing as well as new clients, including assisting with
proposal pursuits, and building relationships with members of the power, utility and
energy industries
● Coordinate preparation, and complete review of technical documents, including draft
work plans, reports, and correspondence for internal Senior Technical Review
● Ensure GHD Project Management, Health and Safety and Quality Management
Systems adhered to during project life cycle
● Research, review and understand provincial and federal acts, and regulations
● Lead project management meetings
● Supervise and mentor technical staff
● Other duties as assigned/required
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
● Registered as P.Eng.
● 10+ years of permitting experience in BC
● Supervisory, project management and client management experience an asset
● Experience with federal, provincial, and local government permitting
● Proven ability to interpret and implement the provincial and federal environmental
assessments, permits, licenses and approvals.
● Well-rounded understanding of environmental fundamentals, principles, and related
legislation with the ability to interpret legislation in the context of policies and
procedures.
● Possess a consistent track record and experience in all stages of the regulatory
permitting processes in industries such as mining, pipelines, upstream/downstream
oil and gas facilities, mining, infrastructure, and renewable energies within AB and
BC (6-10 years), would be an asset.
● Focused on growing the practice and expanding clientele under the direction of the
CAR Group Leader
● A motivated, self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as
within a team environment
● Strong interpersonal, management and leadership skills
● Strong technical writing skills
● Detail oriented and organized
● Excellent oral and written communication skills, and technical writing abilities
