This person will take on the supervisory and administrative duties on the AFTERNOON SHIFT. Some flexibility with schedule is required as the manager for the department will occasionally require coverage on the day shift in rare cases where he is absent.
Applicants being considered will have 3-5 years of experience leading teams (team lead, lead hand, or supervisory position) in an industrial setting, preferably in a production-focused and moderately automated facility. They will also boast experience and confidence with monitoring health and safety compliance, tracking inventory, submitting purchase order requests, performing regular end-product quality audits, and acting as a mediator for any ground level employee disputes. Proficiency with computers and ability to pick up new software with relative ease is also required, as everything in the facility from employee time cards, to inventory management, to order requests, to production planning, and much more is all run through a dedicated software program.
This role is primarily focused on employee oversight and administrative duties related to production. The successful candidate will not be required to perform regular production tasks.
It is noteworthy that company fills as many management positions internally as possible, and securing the Lead Hand title is a great place to start on your journey towards a managerial role.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a medical assessment and colour hue test, as well as agree to a criminal background check. The results of these tests/checks must come back as satisfactory in order to secure this position.

Responsibilities
• Overseeing of a team of 12-15 employees in terms of health and safety compliance and mediation of any minor disputes (all operators in the department are senior level with 10+ yrs tenure on average and require little supervision/assistance with production tasks)
• Liaising with department manager at start of shift to allow for pass-off of tasks that were not able to be completed during the day
• Regular auditing of inventory levels and submission of purchase order requests for addition stock
• Performing regular quality checks throughout the shift to ensure end products meet high company standards
• Performing periodic checks of cutting dies to ensure integrity and reporting any issues to the appropriate department
• Maintaining awareness of jobs completed and outstanding to provide reports as requested
• Liaising with other department heads and production staff to relay any pertinent information and ensure production objectives align across all teams
• Report any and all serious employee infractions or disputes to both Plant Manager and HR
• Train new employees as required
• Coordinate with outside vendors to maintain recycling program within the plant
• Ordering of pallets for production departments as required
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience leading small teams in an industrial setting with a production focus
• Ability to effectively lead teams and relay organizational priorities such as production goals and health and safety expectations
• Must be able to pass a colour hue test
• Must be able to pass a physical assessment (showing capability to bend, twist, lift, stand, etc without discomfort or strain)
• Must have a clear criminal background and give permission to run the check
• Extreme attention to detail and experience with high level quality control
• Excellent communication skills in English - both verbal and written
• Experience with cycle counts, inventory control, and submitting ordering requests
• Must be comfortable operating computers and be able to learn new software systems with relative ease
• Must be highly motivated, self-starting, and able to work effectively under minimal supervision
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
