    Salary: $29.08 per hour (with a 5-step progression to $33.63 per hour) with overtime opportunities as provided for in our collective agreement.Shift premiums: Afternoon - $0.50 for each hour worked between 18:00 and 23:00. Midnight - $1.00 for each hour worked between 23:00 and 6:00.Job type: Full-time
     
    The opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for you! Air Canada is looking for Lead Ramp Agents (Station Attendants) to join our airside operations team at the Vancouver Airport. There is lots of variety involved in this stimulating position, so you’ll need to be highly adaptable as you’ll be playing a key part in ensuring that our aircraft are ready for a safe. secure and on-time departures.

    What your day-to-day looks like
     
    As a Lead Ramp Agent (Station Attendant), you will be managing baggage and freight, plus operating a variety of equipment. You are a working member of the team and will provide guidance, coaching and assistance to Ramp Agents (Station Attendants), so that company standards are met and consistently always applied to ensure safety & optimal customer service, as well as on-time performance. You will also be:

    • Responsible for the safe and efficient on-loading and off-loading cargo and passenger baggage \ Preparing aircraft for arrival and departure.
    • Effectively communicate and coordinate crew and operational flight activities with all stake holders
    • Marshalling or towing aircraft to gate positions for passenger boarding and deplaning
    • On-loading and off-loading cargo and passenger baggage \ Preparing aircraft for arrival and departure.
    • Driving and operating aircraft servicing vehicles and equipment 
    • Marshalling or towing aircraft to gate positions for passenger boarding and deplaning
    • Ensure compliance with established corporate uniform and safety equipment standards

    There are also several support positions within the operation

    Qualifications

    Skills and experience required

    Previous experience is required as a Lead Ramp Agent (Station Attendant) due to our comprehensive training program this is a role that carries a great deal of responsibility. Therefore, we have a number of key criteria to ensure your success: 

    • Strong leadership qualities & communication skills to delegate & carry out time critical decisions
    • Lead Station Attendant or supervisory experience on an airport ground operation 
    • Self starter, self motivated, able to work within strict timelines in order to maintain on-time performance while ensuring Safety First and Always 
    • Availability to work in shifts 
    • Able to lift heavy objects weighing up to 70 pounds (32 kilograms) 
    • Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions 
    • Capacity to work within strict timelines in order to maintain on-time departures  
    • Eligible to work in Canada 
    • Available to attend eight (8) to ten (10) weeks of full-time mandatory training 
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations. Please refer to Transport Canada site for more details
    • Eligible to work in Canada
    • Posses a valid provincial driver’s licence
