Lead Solutions Architect

In this role, the Lead Solutions Architect will be responsible for leading the Products & Technology Solution Architecture team that creates and maintains technical designs and architectural artifacts for the organization’s business solutions that adhere to industries technical and security best practices. Included in these architectural artifacts are reference architecture, infrastructure/network diagrams, data flows, application architecture, deployment models, etc.

The Lead Solutions Architecture team will understand the organization’s business capabilities and processes as well as the overall business and technology strategies. The team will be responsible for defining and managing the cloud computing architecture, including front-end platforms, back-end platforms, serverless applications, API gateways, databases, servers, storages, networks and delivery of technical designs and architectural artifacts for the organization’s business solutions that adhere to corporate and industry technical and security best practices.

The Lead Solutions Architect will be engaging with business, engineering, DevOps, infrastructure and cybersecurity leaders during the all phases of the development lifecycle to ensure the solutions meets business requirements and adheres to technical design and architectural standards. As a member of this team, the Lead Solutions Architect will be responsible for:

•Leading the Solutions Architecture team and the cultural change for cloud adoption/solutions. This includes: Overall solutions architecture, as well as Technology, Functional, Data, Application, Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, and Test Automation architecture
•Developing and coordinating cloud architecture and technology architecture decisions
•Developing an architecture strategy and coordinating the adaptation process
•Establish best practices for the use of cloud and cloud platforms
•Oversee governance and mitigate risk
•Design and advise to operate at scale
•Work closely with the Product Owners, Business Leads and Technology Leads to fully understand solution requirements, identify risks and determine architectural patterns
•Creating and maintaining appropriate reference documentation for development teams
•Assisting development teams in developing solutions when required
•Leading and developing technical design sessions for facilitation with other members of the team and external vendors
•Ensuring technical designs are aligned with technical-long term strategies and properly integrated with the organization’s business
•Work closely with IT security to monitor privacy and develop incident-response procedures
•Keeping current with industry best practices and recommend new patterns, frameworks and technologies when appropriate
•Identify opportunities, risks and constraints to enhance the business solution

Lead Solutions Architect skill requirements:

•7+ years of application software development and solutions architecture
•3+ years of architecting and designing cloud solutions in a senior role
•5+ years managing teams (directly or indirectly)
•Hands-on Architect with excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills
•Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
•Ability to exercise independent judgment and act/deliver on it
•A logical mindset and are efficient, with keen attention to detail
•The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
•Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
•A desire to keep current with latest trends in technology
•High self-motivation and can take initiative
•Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering
•Experience with Agile development methodology
•Excellent knowledge of architectural design patterns – building enterprise-grade applications with micro-services architecture
•Hands-on experience building large distributed systems
•Hands-on experience with major Cloud providers’ infrastructure and services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
•Excellent understanding of solution development lifecycle concepts
•Good knowledge of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS concepts
•Familiarity with event-driven architecture and domain-driven design a strong asset
