Responsibilities
Design, develop, and commission pipeline hydraulic models for existent and new liquids assets using advanced leak detection software to provide highly accurate, reliable, and compliant leak detection
• Program and troubleshoot an offline trainer system as well as real time analysis models
• Test in a development environment and implement in a real-time production environment
• Integrate new assets and leak detection systems into the leak detection program
• Collaborate with the Control Center, SCADA, cybersecurity, compliance, commercial, systems operations, engineering, field operations, and vendors to remain compliant with regulatory requirements
• Drive initiatives and prioritize resolution of issues that impact the reliability of the leak detection system
• Leverage emerging technologies to enhance the leak detection program with a keen eye on opportunities to innovate the right way and at the right time
• Find impactful solutions and optimizations that are aligned to best practices.
• Design and write the code to realize those solutions.
• Provide 24-hour on-call support to the Control Center on a rotational schedule
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, certifications or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in application/software development work
• Experience in at least one programming language (i.e. Python, C#, SQL, Spark, Fortran)
• Experience in a Test-Driven Development (TDD) environment
• Hands-on experience with high reliability systems
• Evidence of exceptional software engineering skills
• Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and relationship management skills
• Well-developed project management skills with the proven ability to juggle and reprioritize based on business demands and priorities
• Proven track record of delivering innovative solutions, leading change, and delivering tangible business benefits
• Relentless focus on improving customer experience and intuition of all delivered solutions
Experience with pipeline hydraulics and pipeline system operations
• Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics of hydrocarbon liquids pipelines
• Experience with Control Center operations, SCADA, Computational Pipeline Monitoring, Operator Training Simulators
• Functional experience with AVEVA software products; SimSuite Pipeline, OASyS DNA Pipeline Monitoring (PLM), OASys DNA, Trainer Simulator

Reporting to the Manager, Liquids Leak Detection, the Leak Detection Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, deployment, and enhancement of leak detection systems and related technologies.
