Are you an experienced legal assistant, with at least 3 years of exposure to Civil or Commercial Litigation? Have you worked on cases of defamation, breach of contract, professional negligence, civil suits resulting from white-collar crime, or class actions? Do you like the pace of a Toronto Bay Street law firms, but would prefer an environment that more off-the-beaten-path? Do you enjoy an environment where everyone is collaborative, takes their work seriously, but not themselves, and enjoys a good team outing every now and then? • $45,000 to $60,000 base salary commensurate to experience

who you are

• law clerk, paralegal or legal secretarial diploma graduate
• must-have at least 3 years of experience in civil or commercial litigation
• experience with finance professional negligence a nice-to-have
• professional demeanour
• strong attention to detail
• ownership over files/mistakes
• provides great client service
• flexible attitude and a willingness to learn new things
• strong team player, but also a great individual contributor
• intelligent, with a mind for strategy

what you will do

• draft and edit correspondence
• manage a calendar for meetings and tracking of deadlines
• arrange for courier for filing with the courts
• process dockets, but no accounts work necessary
• coordinate with clients and opposing parties via email or by phone
• organize productions
• assist with undertakings and discoveries
• open and close files
• revise and edit pleadings, orders, authorizations, affidavits
