Our client in the Kitchener-waterloo area is looking to hire a Logistics and Trade compliance specialist alist to supplement the DSPA Global Trade Compliance Classification Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for HS and ECCN classification of a variety of items for the AR org. The candidate will be expected to have a genuine ‘can do’ attitude and will support their team in day-to-day tasks when needed, as well as be able to work directly with engineers to ensure fast and accurate classification.

Responsibilities
- The candidate will be expected to have a genuine ‘can do’ attitude and will support their team in day-to-day tasks when needed, as well as being able to work directly with engineers to ensure fast and accurate classification.
- Provide HTS classification and ECCN classification for items shipping internationally
- Create Part Numbers within a designated PDM system in order to track, trace, and meet governmental record-keeping requirements
- Support import & export operations within Canada and the USA ensuring timely delivery of shipments
- Including support and navigation of Partner Government Agency requirements for import to Canada
- Identifying continuous improvement opportunities
- Liaising with internal customers to provide status updates and troubleshoot general international shipment escalations
- Providing KPI metrics and operational support to cross-functional groups, including upper-level management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's with 5 years in the supply chain
- Experience in the in-house compliance department, including HTS and ECCN classification experience.
- Experience with Global Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs), Section Notes, Chapter Notes, Export Control Classification Number (ECCN), US export regulations, Customs binding ruling and
other related classification or relevant regulations.
- Experience with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and within trade compliance systems and tools, including Global Trade Management system enhancements
- Self starter, able to work independently with little supervision
- Team player will help others to ensure the job gets done
- Strong sense of ownership
- Ability to quickly learn new systems/processes
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to contribute to / own process improvement ideas
- Ability to exercise informed judgment and make decisions in ambiguous situations
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
