Our client in the London area has partnered with Randstad Engineering in their search for a Manufacturing Manager to join their team! Reporting to the Senior Manufacturing Manager, the Manufacturing Manager oversees all activities related to the extraction and refinement of cannabis oils, and the manufacturing of extract-based products.

In this role, responsibilities would include:
• Develop and document procedures for extraction processes including: Extraction of cannabis essential oils using solvents, Distillation, Winterization, Refinement, Purification, and Manufacturing of extract-based products
• Lead the effort for specification, sourcing, and commissioning of new extraction and manufacturing equipment
• Recruit and hire the extraction team. Maintain staffing levels and develop operational stability with a focus on strategic redundancy and succession planning
• Schedule multiple shift labor force to ensure that refined extracts and extract-based products are manufactured on-time, and produced to strict quality standards
• Ensure the effective execution of goals, targets and objectives with established company policy, procedure and requirements (Safety, Quality, Compliance & KPI’s)
• Identify areas for waste reduction and process flow improvements
• Monitor use and inventories of extraction chemicals and supplies, maintain appropriate supply levels

As a qualified candidate, you meet the following requirements:
• 5+ years of management experience, within a manufacturing environment
• Post secondary education in related scientific or engineering field
• Experience working within a lab setting would be considered an asset
• Experience working within food, pharmaceutical or cosmetic manufacturing would be considered an asset
• Advanced cannabis (or other botanical) extraction expertise is preferred
• Experience in related extraction industries including but not limited to petrochemical or refineries is an asset
• Excellent knowledge of lab techniques, terminology, equipment and materials
• Experience working under GMP
• Knowledge of process engineering and ability to read P&ID, shop drawings, service manuals, etc., in order to help troubleshoot equipment
• Excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with internal departments
• Must be accessible after hours and on the weekend, either over the phone or on-site, to provide support in case of any issues
