Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanic of Fixed Machines ensures proper operation of machines and equipment and performs repairs and preventive maintenance.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanic of Fixed Machines ensures proper operation of machines and equipment and performs repairs and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities
The Mechanic of Fixed Machines is responsible for:
- Monitor, inspect and ensure proper operation of auxiliary equipment ;
- Perform work required by maintenance orders;
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance;
- Investigate the cause of problems, take corrective action and make repairs to prevent equipment or system failure;
- Ensures that his actions, in his function, support the manufacture of products with the criteria of quality and food safety defined by the company;
- Perform mechanical and plumbing tasks to maintain the operation of equipment;
- Be available on call to maintain operations;
- Responsible for the proper functioning of the wastewater treatment system (see Appendix "A");
- Maintain daily logs of operational, safety and maintenance activities and write reports regarding the operation of equipment;
- Performs any other related duties that may fall under this job.
Tasks specific to wastewater treatment
- Manage sludge and grease levels and pumping;
- Read flow meters, level gauges and other recording devices to measure water flow and consumption levels, concentration, pH and turbidity of automatic and manual equipment;
- Record data in the daily log sheet and note all comments and observations to ensure traceability and process monitoring;
- Ensure the supply of chemicals, receive, unload and store chemicals safely;
- Process a forklift permit;
- Work with chemicals:
o Caustic, sodium hydroxide - NaOH ;
o Sulfuric acid - H2SO4;
o Coagulant, Polymer, Metabisulfite.
- Calibration of automatic probes and portable equipment, analysis and validation of the accuracy of pH meter and turbidimeter;
- Control of automatic equipment for wastewater treatment by flotation - Mabarex system;
- Interpretation of data and adjustment of the wastewater treatment process, ensuring proper process chemistry;
- Manage trend curves of automatic equipment results, know how to manually intervene when needed and change automatic equipment parameters;
- Manage system alarms and intervene with proper dosing of neutralization chemicals;
- Monitor and inspect DAF automatic and manual equipment to detect failures and ensure the system is working efficiently;
- Collect wastewater samples for specialized external laboratory to perform quality control analysis.

Qualifications
SQF/HACCP Requirements:
- Ensures that the actions of the position support the manufacture of products within the quality and food safety criteria defined by the company;
- Ensure compliance with SQF food safety code requirements and report any food safety issues to authorized personnel.
Education-Skills and experience required:
- DEP Fixed Machine Mechanics;
- Possession of a certificate of qualification in stationary engineering - Class 4 or in the process of obtaining it;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and maintenance planning software, Interal an asset;
- Experience in the food industry is an asset;
- Ability to perform manual tasks;
- Ability to perform physical efforts;
- Knowledge of WHMIS and ability to work with chemicals;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Minutia, Entregent, Assiduity, Resourcefulness;
- Able to work under pressure and with attention to detail;
- Bilingual (French/English) English required;
- Must have a forklift license.
