Mechanical Designer

Are you a Mechanical Designer looking to join a growing and stable team in an exciting 12 month contract, full time hours opportunity?

Monday to Friday, DAY shift in the London, Ontario area

Competitive hourly rates starting at $28.00/hr

Key Job Elements:
• Strong communication skills with desire to take on new challenges and uncover innovative solutions to technical problems
• Strong fundamental understanding of mechanical design to develop & design overall concepts for a new product to meet customer requirements and specifications
• Develop and maintain drawings, following established procedures
• Plan, organize, and maintain records of progression to ensure successful completion of projects on schedule and within budget
• Manipulation of CAD models using CAD image manipulation software
• Self-starter; able to seize opportunities and move projects forward with minimal direction
• Results oriented; demonstrated success in overcoming obstacles, maintaining timelines and budget
• Support concepts and designs for prototype builds with, at times, limited definition
• Develop plans and estimates for future projects (ROMS’s, BOE’s, project plans, informal estimates) in response to customer and contractual requirements

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or College Diploma in mechanical engineering discipline
• 1 - 3 years related experience with mechanical systems design
• High analytical skills to solve problems at component, subsystem, and system/vehicle level
• Experienced with mechanical drawings, bills of material, engineering release procedures
• Excellent organization skills and the ability to work independently or within a team environment prioritizing in order to meet specified milestone dates
• Demonstrated strength in MS Office applications and other engineering software

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Computer aided engineering (CAD, FEA, Simulation)
• Hands-on practical experience in engineering for automotive mechanical systems
• Experience in design and manufacture of vehicles or equipment
