Randstad Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Plant Layout Designer on behalf of our Client, a Toronto-based consulting firm providing engineering and project delivery services for the mining sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Production of mechanical layouts and plant design using Plant3D or related software
- Extracting drawings from a 3-D model
- Develop Equipment Lists with Engineering
- Locate all equipment
- Prepare and review drawings and designs to ensure standards of quality and accuracy are met
- Read, understand, and comment on manufacturer equipment drawings and specifications, work and collaborate with other discipline team
- Work in conjunction with the engineers, working from the engineer's directions
- Creating CAD drawings as per customer rules and presentation requirements
- Coordinate with all disciplines on requirements for assigned area
- Coordinate with all disciplines on routing and space allotment
- Coordinate with other offices/companies at interfaces between design areas - Review specifications and vendor documentation for associated equipment
Skills / Qualifications

- Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with North American experience in mining and mineral or similar industries
- 5 - 7 years' design experience, preferably in the consulting industry, (preference will be given to those candidate with experience in Gold Mining projects)
- Experience in process-plant mechanical design and layout design in 3D environment
- Experience in site development
- Experience designing in a large equipment and conveyors environment
- Proficiency in the use of 3-D modeling platforms.
- Experience with 3D Design tools such as Plant3D, Microstation V8, PDMS-E3D, Navisworks, Smart Plant Reviewer, Laser scan tools, Quanta point, Leica Geosystems TruView, etc
- Experience in programing in any environment will be an advantage.
- A good understanding of mechanical equipment in relation to operation and maintenance
- A good understanding related to other disciplines (Civil, Structural, Architectural, Piping, Building Services, Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls) design, equipment and layout requirements
- Ability to work in a multi discipline environment
