Mechanical & Piping Coordinator

Our client is looking to fill a Mechanical & Piping Engineer position with one of their Alberta based facilities and they may be waiting on you to apply.

Mechanical & Piping Coordinator duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Assist with field decisions regarding mechanical/piping engineering.
• Provide guidance and technical support to contractors within assigned area and discipline; and/or advise, monitor and supervise work in all phases within assigned area and discipline.
• Planning and supervising site survey control, including initial layouts and spot checks of construction.
• Planning and supervising all site QA/QC programs including material testing,
• Assisting the contractors with clarification, interpretation, interference resolution and QA/QC related matters.
• Ensuring instructions, drawings and specifications for scope changes are issued in a timely manner.
• Assisting in the management of the Site Safety Program.
• Proactively working with contractors to ensure project safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives are being achieved.
• Submitting daily progress reports to the site construction office outlining items of concern such as safety observations/directions, non-conformance with the specifications and drawings, equipment and weather delays, site clean-up, congestion, infrastructure, workmanship, quality control and potential contract extras.
• Updating the site-wide deficiency lists to be issued at weekly construction meetings.
• Responsible for coordinating the flow of CWP (Construction Work Packages) to the various contractors.
• Ensure Contractors are returning CWP deliverables in a timely manner
• CWP will be used as a scoping document for Request for Proposal (RFP) and Contracts.
• Organize reviews of contractors CWP deliverables with other PP CMT personnel for approval.
• Logging, filing, and issuing CWP to the contractors.
• Preparing statistical reports to track the response times and numbers of issued and outstanding CWP in any given period by CWP master log.

Mechanical & Piping Coordinator Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) designation
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience operating in a technical environment and construction planning on large industrial projects.
• Construction Work Package (CWP) development process and/or Workplace Planning background with field experience and a trade certificate would be an asset.
• Knowledgeable in construction methods, practices, quality assurance and field engineering
• Hands-on field experience in operations and reliability / maintenance engineering, inspections and workshop repairs and turnarounds will be considered an asset
• Knowledge of the following codes: B31.1 Power Piping, B31:2 Fuel gas Piping and B31.3 Process Piping, Z662 and API Codes
