Responsibilities
A Day in the Life of a Medical Office Administrator:
- Greeting and registering patients
- Answering patient inquiries over the phone
- Managing physician calendars and working closely with clinical staff
- Triaging incoming requests and prioritizing urgent cases
- Booking and rescheduling patient appointments
- Preparing patient charts, reports and updating medical records in EMR
- Accepting payments by credit card, private insurance, and entering OHIP billing
Qualifications
What you need to succeed in this Medical Office Administrator role:
- 3-5 years experience in a patient-facing role within a clinic or healthcare setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to put patients at ease
- Proficient in MS Office and EMR programs (Telus Health CHR is an asset, but any EMR experience is easily transferrable)
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and problem-solve in a client-oriented environment
- Able to work both independently and as part of a supportive team
- Friendly, reliable and adaptable
