    We are seeking a Mining Technician for a well-established client of ours. The lab is located near Campbell River on a rotational shift with fly-in, fly-out, and accommodation provided. The Mining Technician is responsible for performing routine duties relating to the preparation and processing of samples, including sample preparation, Wet Assay, and Fire Assay analysis as well as other analytical process as required.

    Responsibilities

    •Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals (UM) Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the Mineralogical Technician position
    •Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE)
    •All stages of sample preparation including receiving and entering samples into the LIMS systems
    •Assist in the preparation of rock and mineral sample and in conducting physical and chemical laboratory tests
    •Laboratory related tasks such as digestion, fusion by Classical Assay and Fire Assay methods
    •Analysis of samples (operating AA and ICP‐OES instrumentation) and review of data
    •Comply with all BV company policies, OHS and other legislated regulations, mine site and laboratory safety procedures and applicable ISO quality system SOP’s
    •Other duties as assigned from time to time


    Qualifications
    •Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in related field (Chemistry/Science)
    •Minimum one (1) or two (2) years’ experience in a sample preparation or in a mineral processing laboratory environment is preferred
    •Previous experience with operating Fire Assay, AA or ICP‐OES instrument considered an asset
    •Working knowledge with laboratory procedures, WHMIS and GLP
    •Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    •Ability to handle weights of up to 50 lbs for prolonged periods
    •Open and inclusive mindset with a willingness to work in a team dynamic
