Responsibilities
Cost effective drilling and formation evaluation provision
Ensure third party specialists (wellsite geologist, pore pressure, stratigraphy, etc.) are engaged for relevant
wells, monitoring remotely or onsite, as required.
Provide support to the subsurface and drilling teams during all phases of drilling operations, supervising,
and supporting the well site teams through drilling operations QC of morning geologic reports and
geological well data.
Accountable for providing and presenting subsurface drilling hazards assessments and geological
programs at pre-spud meetings as well as facilitating both ad-hoc and routine office operations meetings.
Providing up-to-date analysis of integrated geologic data, as well as ensuring transfer of all well data to the
office IM systems and maintenance of safety standards throughout, as required.
Holding regular Service Quality Review Meetings (SQM's) with service providers and contractors to drive
improvement, ensure issue close-out and propagate "lessons learned" understanding throughout our
operations.
QC of field LWD, wireline and mudlog data in close collaboration with the project team.
Planning of formation evaluation programs and the preparation of geological operations documents in
support of our drilling program in close collaboration with the project team
Ability to support operations activities outside of standard work hours as required
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor of Science in Geoscience (Geology or Geophysics)
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
10-15 years working as an Operations Geologist.
o Experience with exploration drilling an asset
Strong communication skills
Experience managing multiple parallel well evaluation operations
Beneficial if the person has a basic familiarity of exploration geology.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge, cont’d.:
Has worked for a logging company in the US or Canadian O&G industries.
Experience dealing varied well evaluation programs such as collecting pressure data, core, VSPs along
with conventional logging tools etc.
Must speak English and Spanish
