We are seeking an Operations Manager with strong LEAN background for a well established manufacturing client of ours on Vancouver Island.

This Manager will be responsible for product flow from raw materials through small parts, components, assembly and paint. Responsibilities will include managing the Schedule to reach daily production targets and improving floor efficiency on an hourly basis working with floor staff in a high paced production environment. Managing human capital on the floor in tandem with the Schedule, Quick Books and time cards, the position requires a comprehensive sense of data review to make the best decisions in real time. This position will work with Managers and other employees to ensure continuous improvements in work processes and reaching deadlines. The ability to have authority on the floor is a must.


• Understand daily expectations based on the Schedule.
• Manage product flow on the floor; small parts, components, assembly.
• Oversee and approve time cards daily and compare to job costs.
• Compare overall production with costing estimates through Quick Books.
• Understand blueprints, welding and mechanical design.
• Motivate staff to reach production goals out of Assembly.
• Maintain safe work practices as per company Safety Manual.
• Work with purchasing to insure correct materials are ordered.
• Oversee QC and product Inspections before shipment.
• Oversee equipment repairs and insure preventative maintenance.
• Provide data to assist in monitoring and tracking project budgets and project status.
• Assist in training, directing & supervision of junior staff.
• Oversee fab, plasma and saw as it relates to flow.
• Manage paint booth; labour, flow and output.
• Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
• Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.
• Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques.


• Graduate of a Certified Lean Manufacturing Program.
• Mechanical experience and aptitude.
• Experienced in mild steel and welding practices.
• 3 years proven supervisory experience.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
• Experience with routine preventative maintenance.
• Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Able to work well under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
