Responsibilities
• Provide direction and support to department superintendents to ensure department performance targets are met as well as to interface with the sites other Operating and Maintenance departments to ensure the operations requirements are known and addressed in terms of the overall site performance
• Develop and implement strategic plans for capital and maintenance spending, process optimization, and personnel development, to support the short- and long-term objectives.
• Develop and maintain a work environment with Unions and employees that promotes efficient work practices and conformance to the Collective Agreement, and all applicable policies and procedures along with fostering and maintaining a relationship with union personal and representatives
• Ensure that health and safety considerations are paramount in the day-to-day execution of the job; showing by leadership to all Company employees the benefits of a healthy and safe workplace. Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to lead change including driving improvements toward a safe work culture.
• Ensures that all Company policies and rules as well as Government regulations are followed.
Qualifications
• Engineering and / or an MBA degree, coupled with 7-10 years of experience within a Unionized industrial environment.
• Excellent working knowledge of the paper making process preferred, with superior troubleshooting and leadership abilities required.
• Familiarity with pulp processes and related equipment considered an asset.
• Understanding of Ontario Health and Safety regulations, with advanced experience, knowledge and understanding of safe work practices.
• Experience with SAP
• Proficient analytical skills required as well as a strong background in MS Office.
