Responsibilities
Act as the quality gatekeeper, voice and market ambassador for the French_Canada locale.
Develop and maintain key relationships with vendor linguists: regularly communicate with them to align and calibrate language, style, and terminology.
Clarify quality expectations and maintain/improve quality control processes.
Coordinate creation and maintenance of linguistic assets: translation memories, glossaries, style guides, reference materials for the language/market of expertise.
Keep the translation memory up to date with the terminology approved by content designers, marketing, operations, and legal teams.
Thoroughly QA all localized content and apps to ensure consistent messaging and proper functionality.
Identify and fix linguistic and cultural issues before launch.
Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the localization process.
Communicate efficiently with product managers, technical managers and engineers, team leads, and stakeholders from other disciplines to align with project requirements and quality standards.
Articulate kindly your sound rationale to stakeholders about specific linguistic choices when needed.
Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
B.A./B.S. or equivalent 4-year university degree. Translation, linguistics,
international/multilingual marketing, or similar field of study.
3+ years of experience in software localization or translation/review for tech
companies.
Native level of fluency in French from Québec, including spelling, grammar, style, various tones (from formal to colloquial.)
Excellent fluency in English.
Experienced user in e-commerce websites and apps, with knowledge of retail
online platforms
Nice to Haves:
Preferred qualifications.
M.A. in translation, linguistics, international/multilingual marketing, or similar field
of study.
5+ years of relevant experience in software localization, QA testing, linguistic QA.
Demonstrated knowledge of internationalization and localization standards, and
best practices.
Experience in copywriting or editing in the language of expertise.
Excellent communication skills.
