Responsibilities
You will be responsible for all technical aspects related to the assigned projects to meet specific
business requirements from the Business and IS groups. The TA, Sr works closely with other
team members to ensure application availability and system maintenance. He/she acts as the
technical developer and lead on all assigned projects.
Project Baseline Process (PROCESS) - Assists technical resources in analyzing
business requirements of projects in order to established estimates.
Code Development (RESULTS) - Responsible for all technical aspects related to the
assigned projects (i.e. system design, FSTD, development, deployment, code review,
integration and support).
Measure - Thorough planning and organizing of the development cycle related to the
project. Working closely with the required individuals, i.e. the PM, Implementation
Manager, External vendors and Business teams to control and manage the development
activities to meet the specified timeframes for successful completion of the project.
Quality of the Deliverables (PROCESS) - Delivers products and services compliant with
the established quality standards (see IS Dev & QA quality scorecard). - Continuously
reviews development processes and methodology to improve business results. - Verifies
application designs are efficient and effective and meet corporate application quality
standards. Measure - Completed documentation of analysis and test cases are
submitted as part of the code review. - No performance (i.e. slow response time) issues
found in QA and Production. - Design and code walk-through sessions are completed
with the Development Manager and Application Manager. - CQs are updated correctly
and in a timely manner including attaching required documentation.
Excellence in Project Delivery (RESULTS) - Acts as the Lead Developer on all assigned
projects. Assists with coordinating the activity of the developers involved to meet the
project milestones and deliverable date. Measure - Completion of development
deliverables on time and within estimated budget.
Excellence in support services (PEOPLE/PROCESS) - Works with the Application
Manager and Development Manager to ensure coverage of support on the applications
is always available according to the support model. Provides technical coaching and
mentoring to other technical resources. Measure - Participate in supporting processes
relating to code promotion, batch cycle, data extracts and verification. Service Now
tickets are resolved in a timely manner and escalated accordingly.
Qualifications
Strong organization and planning skills.
Communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to effectively communicate technical
jargon to business users.
Analytical skills. Ability to generate options to solve complex and/or multidimensional
problems in a timely manner.
Leadership skills. Ability to lead and influence others.
Excellent technical skills
Minimum 3 years development experience with financial applications
Minimum 5 years Progress 4GL development experience
Passionate in developing database applications and database design
Knowledge and experience in developing applications for the mutual
fund/insurance/investment industry
Solid experience with the full life cycle of software development
Knowledge and experience in Canadian financial products - RESP / RRIF / RRSP etc
Knowledge of FundServ Standards
University degree, preferably in Computer Science or equivalent experience
