Responsibilities
Designs and architects 911 and unified communication solutions to meet the Service’s requirements.
Research current market trends as it pertains to UC security, design, support and best practices.
Keeps up to date with CRTC, NENA, and ESWG as it pertains to supporting a 911 PSAP.
Tests, evaluates and qualifies new infrastructure software and hardware solutions.
Develops and manages project initiatives to improve or stabilize the UC environments.
Manages and monitors vendors engaged in implementing/rolling out new projects.
Develops operational support documentation and training information for co-workers.
Provides technical expertise to analyze and resolve complex UC related problems
Installs and configures applications, server hardware and vendor appliances.
Provides guidance and training to Junior Technical Analysts and other members of ITS.
Participates in interview panels for potential new hires.
Performs typical duties inherent to the position.
Qualifications
University or College Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience supporting telephony and unified communications.
Experience in the support of a UNIX, Windows Server, Linux or similar complex environment, including systems administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, networking, and security.
Experience in the design and deployment of Cisco UC Infrastructure, including CUCM, CUC, UCCX, and Expressway.
Experience supporting SIP Trunking, PRI, and voice gateways.
Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
Nice to Haves:
Experience supporting WebEx and Microsoft Teams would be an asset.
Experience supporting NICE call recording systems would be an asset.
Strong knowledge of UNIX, Windows Server, Linux, TCP/IP networking, security and Web technologies.
Knowledge of VMware, or similar virtualization technology, its architecture and its adaptation for server deployment and management.
Knowledge of E911 and NG911 would be an asset.
Knowledge of best practices related to racking, power distribution, and grounding would be an asset.
CCNP Collaboration certification is preferred.
