The accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Provides input to Major Capital Projects and Business Systems Plans and directions, ensure an appropriate understanding of the client and Information Services strategy throughout while architecting solutions that add value and ensure on-going effective positioning and appropriate relationships between other positions in Major Capital Projects and in the rest of the organization.
Provides application solutions or mentoring and review for application solutions within capital projects that are delivered by Major Capital Projects. Develops application architectures that supports IT infrastructure and contributes to the high level of reliability, availability and performance required to allow the organization to perform its business. At the same time improving business performance, mitigating risk, and reducing IT costs by consolidating, standardizing, and integrating corporate information systems.
Identifies the necessary budget requirements for the provision of information technology and computing infrastructure along with changes to the existing environment to support the Information Services business unit. This includes determining the current state and the future technology state and architecting solutions to move from current to future states.
Demonstrate value by architecting business unit solutions to move from current state to future state effectively while aligning to the organizations business objectives. Solutions will leverage the architect’s knowledge of peers, industry players, vendors, upcoming regulatory changes, and business unit direction. Solutions will be consistent, efficient, and cost effective offering the business unit satisfactory return on investment.
Contributes to enterprise architecture by working with contributions from key business and IS representatives, along with other Major Capital Projects employees.
Translates business vision and strategy into effective change by creating, communicating, and improving key principles and models that describe the organizations future state and enable its evolution through value added changes. Demonstrates an easy to do business with, high performance, safe, accountable, innovative, and achievement-oriented manner of working.
Mandatory:
- 8+ years in Information Technology. Ideally a large portion of that time will have been spent doing capital projects and or solution architecture.
- Critical analytical skills that allow you to determine the best direction for solution architecture through review of multiple data sources.
- Excellent research skills to ensure that all options are reviewed and that a single solution for whole organization has been considered.
- Good communication and presentation skills that will allow you to solicit input for an architecture and ensure that others within Information Technology understand the architecture and the rationale.
