Responsibilities
As a Data Risk Officer, your duties will include:
•Supporting Risk and Control Owners in identifying and mitigating data risks and ensure consistency in how enterprise data policies and standards are implemented.
•Acting as primary 1B Line of Defense support to projects and engagements with third parties to ensure risk assessments are completed, and mitigation controls are identified
•Acting as Data Risk subject matter advisor, navigator and integrator for P&CB
Qualifications
•Bachelor degree
•5+ years hands-on experience in Risk management, supporting the identification and mitigation of risks; experience in Data risk management an asset.
•Data knowledge: data lifecycle, how data flows end to end, ability to understand an architecture diagram, storage of data, etc.
•Previous Banking experience
•Analytical skills (e.g. identify gaps and issues where they may not be readily visible)
•Critical thinking and problem-solving (e.g. work with the Business for identifying mitigants)
•Comfortable with ambiguity (e.g. there are some overall prescriptive questions and steps to guide the approach for assessing the risk however the person needs to be ready for quite a degree of art along with all the ‘science’)
•Strong verbal and written communication skills to deliver well-structured business documentation
•Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and engage stakeholders
•Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines
•Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
•Ability to work well under pressure and meet strict timelines
•Dynamism and capability of working independently
•Passionate about data and the importance of data for an organization
