P2 - Project Manager - Scrum Master - Calgary

    Our large Calgary, Alberta based client requires a Project Manager / Scrum Master on contract for 12 months with possible extension.

    Summary

    The Scrum Master will be responsible for help guide teams in their journey of self-organization through observation-feedback loops, questioning and facilitation.

    Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

    • Facilitate the various agile ceremonies, work methods and practices to project teams including, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement and planning, sprint planning and retrospectives sprint and story estimations and agile project resource planning
    • Develop and execute the entire project, using an agile approach, including the sprint release plan, funding strategy, milestones, deliverables, schedule, critical path items and interdependencies to execute the project effectively
    • Build agile capability and adoption of agile values, principles and behaviors within project teams, across the department, and with the various supporting organizations, including delivery partners and vendor organizations
    • Champion the development and optimized use of agile tools to enable co-located and geographically dispersed teams
    • Remove impediments and lead escalations along with recommended approaches to leadership
    • Support the development of Agile skills and knowledge within the scrum team.
    • Contribute to organizational change management activities supporting agile adoption

    Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

    • 8+ years’ experience working as a Project Manager or Scrum Master with exposure to delivering information technology projects within a gated process
    • A University degree in business/technical fields or a combination of other education and equivalent work experience
    • A Certified Scrum Master (SMC, PSM), or equivalent designation
    • Prior leadership experience (authoritative or non-authoritative)
    • Demonstrated capability of agile methodologies such as Scrum or extreme programming (XP)
    • The ability to connect and differentiate agile and waterfall methodologies, including a gated governance process
    • Proficiency with agile toolsets such as JIRA, TFS, etc.
    • A deep understanding of enterprise scaling frameworks such as disciplined agile delivery and scaled agile framework for enterprises
    • An outstanding ability to influence, coach and develop diverse groups with sound communication skills (both verbal and written)
