Responsibilities
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user request from the underlying true needs
• Proactively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements and identify areas that need improvement or updating
• Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding on how to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
• Serve as the IT liaison between the stakeholders and the IT team members through which requirements and specifications will flow
• Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language
• Collaborate with IT team members and other subject matter experts to establish the solution vision and analyze trade-offs between usability, cost and efficiencies gained
• Actively participate in the Quality Assurance (QA) process
• Conduct interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods
• Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards
• Develop and utilize standard templates to write requirements specifications accurately and concisely
• Where applicable, develop prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on user requirements
• Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team
• Develop and conduct peer reviews of business requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted
• Assist with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options and communicate these back to the business stakeholders
• Conduct data quality assessment and validation checks to ensure accuracy, completeness and integrity of data used for analytics
• Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary
• Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements – verbally or through written documentation – to project manager, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood
Qualifications
• Advanced requirements elicitation methods
• Ability to document requirements clearly with user stories, use cases, process descriptions, scenarios and workflows
• Ability to use advance Visio functions
• Ability to understand data in various application databases and the data warehouse and how to join information to generate business value
• Ability to understand and combine business requests that appear to be similar
• Advance communication and interpersonal skills to elicit requirements and to maintain contact with business users and keep them abreast of progress regarding their requests
• Ability to use standard company templates for requirements documentation
• Ability to translate expressed business needs into technical language when necessary,enabling dialog with data architects as well as report dashboard developers and vice versa – translating technical terms to business terms
