A highly successful Vancouver Island based manufacturing company are seeking a top Payroll and Accounts Payable Clerk to join their busy team.


PAYROLL & ACCOUNTS PAYROLL CLERK
Opportunity: Full time, permanent position
Location: Victoria BC, close to Downtown, transit accessible
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8.00am - 5.00pm (hours may be flexible)
Salary: $40,000 - 50,000
Start: As soon as possible

Your Main Responsibilities:

Payroll:
• Ensure hourly production and installation employees paid in an accurate and timely basis
• Collate payroll input documents and data for processing
• Process payroll data using Payworks online payroll platform
• Produce regular and adhoc payroll related reports
• Assist with developing, maintaining, updating, and documenting payroll procedures
• Assisting to maintain and safeguard employee personnel files
• Administration of employee benefits including health insurance, professional development, safety & protection, BC Transit pass, and other
• Assist with vacation tracking and absence management
• Assist with various month end duties including vacation and wage accruals
• Courteously respond or re-direct employee inquiries
• Assist with recruitment and hiring as required

Accounts Payable:
• Assist with processing & managing accounts payable in an accurate and efficient manner
• Assisting with matching of purchase orders with invoices as they are received
• Assisting to maintain vendor records in Sage 50 accounting system
• Courteously respond or re-direct vendor account inquiries
• Reconcile employee expense reports using Excel, verifying general ledger accounts and auditing for receipts in accordance with the corporate travel and expense reimbursement policy
• Complete credit applications
• Assist with Sales tax filings and remittances
• Reconcile corporate credit card usage and perform month end credit card reconciliations
• Assist with various month end duties including fixed asset tracking and amortization, prepaid expenses, allocations and accruals
• Assist with answering and disseminating incoming calls as required
• Other duties as assigned (including sales order entry back up)

Requirements for the Role:

Education/Training:
• Postsecondary education or training preferred
• Diploma in accounting or bookkeeping course preferred

Experience:
• Minimum 2 years' work experience in office environment preferred
• Payroll and accounts payable experience is preferred

Skills/Competencies:
• Self-starter, able to work independently with minimum supervision
• Enjoy working with a team, communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Superior attention to detail and highly organized providing timely, accurate and complete information
• Accounting and mathematical reasoning skills required
• Ability to analyze situations accurately and take appropriate action
• Work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Flexible and adaptable
• Proficient in accounting software programs
• Good working knowledge of Excel
• Deal with employees and public in a helpful, courteous, friendly and professional manner whether on the phone or in person
