Our established client in the Education industry has a fantastic Payroll & Benefits Specialist opportunity within their growing finance team. This prospect offers a 9-month contract with the potential of becoming permanent depending on the current market situation. Located in Downtown Toronto this is an exceptional opportunity to get your foot in the door with a strong organization.

Key Responsibilities:

- Responsible for accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll and monthly and annual payroll reports

- Perform year-end adjustments and remit statutory deductions

- Administer group benefits and pension program, enrolling employees and maintaining employee database

- Track short-term and long-term disability programs and prepare reports for analysis

- Manage and update the database to ensure all employee data is secure and accurate

- Communicate with employees regarding any HR, Payroll, or Benefits inquiries


- A minimum of 3+ years of applicable payroll & benefits experience

- Strong computer skills; be a ‘power-user’ with MS Office Excel and Word, as well as computerized payroll ( ADP products currently used)

- A smart problem solver

- A passion for payroll

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Enjoy working with people – approachable and accessible

- Handles confidential information with utmost discretion

- Professional, show good judgment and a positive attitude

- Highly organized, able to prioritize, and be detail-oriented. This is a deadline-driven environment.

Certified Payroll Manager Certification or similar experience would be considered an asset.
