Responsibilities
- Ensuring timely payment, reporting of payroll withholdings, and preparing remittances.
- Processing payroll for two entities
- Process quarterly and yearly tax filings, T4s, and other tax forms. Stays current, complies with and provides interpretations on various rules, regulations, laws, contracts, and policies
- Completion of WSIB payments, EHT, OHRS, staff donations, RRSP, pension, union dues, SUB plans, ROEs, and step increases.
- Ensure all remittances and reconciliations are performed accurately and on time.
- Follow up with employees regarding any payroll issues
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education with a focus on Payroll or equivalent experience
- PCP certification or other designation for payroll (working towards is okay)
- Experience and understanding of payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, payroll taxes, reporting, year-end, and reconciliation
- Ability to provide reporting to upper management
- Ability to work with those who are in crisis, someone who has excellent stress management
