Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Payroll Technician is responsible for the full payroll cycle and its support. They make the bridge between HR and finance for project reporting related to salaries and benefits. They also help prepare various supporting documents related to compensation and payroll queries.

Responsibilities
Payroll & Benefits
•Imports data in the payroll system and submits to payroll services once it has been confirmed by department heads.
•Process approved expense accounts in the payroll.
•Prepares and submits monthly group insurance, TFSA & VRSP remittances.
•Tracks employees’ salaries covered by grants.
•Maintains records for taxable benefits, vacations, sick days, leaves, etc.
•Prepares yearly updates required in the payroll system (salaries, taxable benefits, vacation banks)
•Reviews the T4 and RL1 slips prepared by Desjardins prior to distribution. (Employeur D)
•Prepares any employee related documents such as CNESST, Emploi Quebec, etc.
•Prepares ROE when needed.
•Solves any payroll system issues.
•Cooperates and coordinates directly with the finance department to ensure proper compliance and tracking of relevant information.
Qualifications
•Diploma in accounting, administration or relevant field.
•2 -3+ years relevant experience.
•Knowledge of labor standards related to pay and benefits.
•Fully competent with Employer D or Nethris and Microsoft Office
•Bilingual English and French communication.
•Canadian Payroll Association designation, a plus
