Detailed Job Description
Our client is actively seeking an experienced Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our team in their Calgary Office. The Electrical Engineer would be responsible for the coordination of their design activities as well as activities of other Electrical Designers used by our client to meet project schedules and ensure successful project completion.

• Responsible for the preparation of engineering, material estimates and schedules
• Be involved in the selection and preparation of specifications for substation major equipment
• Lead projects from concept to completion
• Liaise with clients as well as equipment and material vendors on a regular basis
• Conduct bid evaluations and make recommendations
• Responsible for the detailed design of substation layouts including equipment layouts, buswork, cable routing etc.
• Carry out detailed engineering calculations to support design in compliance with code requirements and industry standards
• Coordinate designs with the other disciplines involved in the project
• Prepare detailed bill of materials and procure all materials required for the project
• Prepare and authenticate IFC drawings and engineering reports
• Accountable for providing design support during the construction /start-up phase of the project
• Review as-builts and complete project closeout
• Actively promote safety in design
• Coordinate and direct the work of junior Engineers/Designers
• Mentor junior Engineers/Designers via on-the-job training and knowledge transfer.
• Remain up-to-date on current technologies and engineering standards

To be Successful, you will have the following qualifications and experience:
• Graduate electrical engineer and APEGA member with 5-10 years’ experience in the design of High Voltage utility and industrial substations.
• Experienced in electrical apparatus, grounding and station equipment design.
• Knowledge using engineering software such as CDEGS is an asset.
