We are looking to meet with experienced Pharmacy Assistants in Peel/Halton region. This posting is not for a specific position, but to reach out proactively to talent in the Toronto area for both long and short-term contract opportunities in the field of healthcare and medicine. As a Pharmacy Assistant you will be responsible for providing reliable support to the licensed pharmacy professionals and ensuring that patients always come first. Some of the responsibilities placed upon pharmacy assistants include dispensing of medication, data entry, prescription intake, accepting payments by cash, OHIP, WSIB and private insurance, inventory management and other various other tasks which help the pharmacy to continue running efficiently. The pharmacy assistant has an eye for details and an understanding that errors are a patient health and safety issue.
The ideal candidate is care-oriented, enjoys working in a collaborative environment, and loves finding new ways to be more efficient. We are seeking individuals in the Toronto area who are available to work full-time.

Responsibilities
What YOU will be doing as a Pharmacy Assistant:
Greeting patients and processing detailed prescription intake
Using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) for purposes of data entry, verification of past medical history and communication with pharmacy staff and other healthcare providers
Accurately counting and dispensing prescriptions with a supreme degree of accuracy and care
Answering phone calls from patients and responding to general inquiries
Entering monthly OHIP billing into medical software
Handling payments and billing for uninsured patients
Communicating with healthcare providers via phone, email and fax regarding patient care, referrals and medical requisitions
Filing, photocopying, faxing and maintaining patient records
Creating reports for management as required
Qualifications
What YOU bring to the role of Pharmacy Assistant:
To succeed in this fast-paced, high pressure environment, the Pharmacy Assistant should have 1 or more years of experience in a pharmacy setting in Canada in a retail or non-retail setting.
Other requirements include:
Tech-savvy and proficient in data entry using Kroll or other EMR system
Customer service oriented and committed to putting patients first
Well-developed interpersonal and problem-solving skills with an ability to build patient relationships, resolve disputes quickly and diffuse situations
High-level verbal and written communication skills with a professional manner
Highly organized with excellent time management skills, experienced managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented, skilled in accurate, high-volume data entry
Ability to maintain confidentiality in a variety of settings and experienced in handling sensitive information
Reliable and conscientious with a “get-it-done” attitude
