Plant Systems Engineer

• Do you like building things from the ground up?

• Do you like integrating hardware, process, software and business processes?
Reporting to the Plant Manager and based out of our Etobicoke, ON office, the Plant Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing, designing, testing, integrating and deploying system software and hardware solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Become a technical anchor for the implementation of the plant’s new SCADA/MES/MRP systems.
• Ensure the availability, integrity and reliability of the SCADA and MES applications.
• Perform troubleshooting lead support of SCADA, MES and MRP applications and its related infrastructure including business interfaces, network and hardware platforms
• Assist in troubleshooting, process optimization and continuous improvements across manufacturing operations to improve quality, productivity and cost
• Day-to-day interaction with Maintenance, New Product Development, Quality, IT Infrastructure, Production Scheduling, Continuous Improvement, Finance, as well as MES and MRP vendors to identify, report and resolve application and production workflow problems
• Partner with Operations and Engineering, Maintenance and others in the commissioning of new processes, products and equipment.
• Backup support for PLC programming an plant IT
• Support for enhanced plant data collection
• Plan and execute activities to ensure project goals are met


• Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Design Engineering with 1-2 years’ work experience
• Project management experience, control system design, C/C++, Java, Python, VBL, SQL programming and PLC programming
• Knowledge of Wonderware SCADA/MES and Syspro ERP is an asset
• Knowledge of scheduling and simulation an asset
• Strong written/verbal and presentation skills and team/inter-team work skills
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
