Responsibilities
● Act as project manager and technical lead for geotechnical projects
● Provide early-stage technical review and risk management/assessment
● Provide expertise in geotechnical and sub-surface infrastructure solutions
● Prepare and review geotechnical reports, specifications, and drawings
● Lead the production of geotechnical reports, specifications, and drawings
● Prepare and manage site investigation plans
● Carry out geotechnical investigations, geohazard evaluations, air-photo/LiDAR interpretations, slope stability evaluation, instrumentation, and construction monitoring.
● Practice in two or more of the following areas:
● Mine design (tailings)
● Hydro dams
● Earth dams and levees
● Waste rock stability
● Drilling, field investigations and laboratory testing
● Shallow/deep Foundation analysis and design
● Liquefaction potential assessment
● Mentor, coach and train less experienced professionals as required.
● Develop strategic client relationships
● Provide support to BD opportunities with technical expertise (including proposal preparation)
● Travel to project sites mainly in Canada
Qualifications
● B.Sc. or M.Sc.in Civil Engineering; an emphasis on geotechnical engineering is required
● 15-20+ years of experience in geotechnical projects
● A high level of proficiency with advanced 2D and 3D static and dynamic soil-structures interaction and geostructural design software such as Plaxis 2D et 3D, FLAC2D et 3D, Roc Science (RS2/RS3, RSpile, Slide2/3),Geostudio (Slope/W, Sigma/W, Seep/W)
● Profound knowledge in the fields of geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics and applicable codes, standards, procedures, safety and other regulatory requirements and guidelines
● Professional engineer designation with EGBC or equivalent
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
