randstad has an opportunity for a process engineer in the gta

the focus of this position is the food and beverage sector. you should have the ability to work in all phases of a project and will be involved in design, managing, and other project deliverables. equipment will be skid based systems so you will be working with blending and mixing processes, vessels, heat exchangers, and other process equipment. you will work along with other disciplines like instrumentation, electrical, and automation and will be comfortable interacting on a regular basis.

you will be involved with:
• mechanical process design
• thermodynamic and fluid mechanics designs – heat and mass balance
• sizing and selection of major mechanical equipment such as pumps, boilers, heat exchangers, filters and other equipment
• piping design and integration of mechanical equipment
• process control design related to mechanical systems
• mechanical and mechanical-based project tasks that include, but not limited to
o initial design criteria and basis for design drawings, P&IDs
o define, select, and size critical equipment for mechanical systems
o review, correct, and stamp design drawings
o set out ITPs and documentation packages for process and mechanical systems
o inspection, approvals and verification of components and assemblies in both fab shop and field environments, including as-built of final project
o support commissioning and start-up of mechanical systems

• audit existing processes and mechanical designs for performance problems
• provide pre-sales process and mechanical system support to sales teams
• support coordination of assembly/construction work with subcontractors and vendors
• perform site reviews for mechanical, electrical and process installations
• perform in-process and final assembly inspections and approvals of process and/or mechanical systems
• apply for and secure installation approvals from regulatory bodies such as CSA, CGA, TSSA where applicable
• perform site troubleshooting, technical and maintenance assistance at customer locations
• provide mechanical code guidance and compliance requirements, including; assembly, testing, welding, and examination requirements
• mentor junior engineers in mechanical systems design best practices
• support business development activities

requirements for the position:
• 7+ years of experience in food and beverage industry, construction engineering, planning and/or project management, preferably in a
variety of fields (i.e., industrial, food and beverage industry)
• experience in the design of fluid and bulk materials handling processes including preparation of process flow diagrams, heat and material balances and P&IDs
• experience in the design of sanitary process systems including piping, vessels and CIP systems
• familiarity with CFIA and HACCP requirements
• solid Knowledge of engineering codes and standards

education: university undergraduate degree in mechanical or chemical engineering
experience: 7 + years
