Our client in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry in St. Catharines has partnered with Randstad Engineering in their search for a Production Coordinator/Supervisor to join their team! In this role, you would be responsible for directing and coordinating all activities within the processing areas and ensuring that agreed to production plans/schedules are attained in a timely and cost effective manner, while meeting quality and safety requirements at all times.

Specific responsibilities would include:
• Continuously communicate with Quality, Safety, Engineering Maintenance and Production Planning peers to ensure that there is a common understanding of issues within the cell and the plan to resolve
• Work with Quality to design, implement, and monitor quality awareness among operators.
• Communicate clearly with employees to identify quality issues and the agreed to corrective action.
• Review daily schedule at start of shift with supervisor from previous shift to identify what has been produced, what will be produced and what is at risk in the plan for the day. Advise Operations Manager of risks to the daily schedules as soon as possible along with potential recovery plan
• Work with Operations Manager, Production planning, Quality and Shipping/Receiving to address issues around production attainment due to quality, material availability or manpower availability
• Monitor the efficiency and quality of all production jobs. Review the goals of the cell daily and identify root cause if the goal was not obtained and report findings.
• Advise Production planning and sister operation when production issues are encountered which may threaten the committed to production.
• Direct job assignments and ensure that appropriate materials are available and that appropriate manpower is assigned to meet agreed to plans.
• Maintain inventory and replenishment of all parts and production supplies required.
• Ensure that required materials and finished goods are located in an agreed upon location and clearly marked. Ensure that all employees are aware of the appropriate location for the materials.
• Provide feedback to production planning on risks to the production plan on an ongoing basis. Advise them immediately of significant quality issues or production shortfalls and the plan to correct.
• Prioritize maintenance requirements for the cell. Coordinate with maintenance to establish the priorities and an acceptable workplan.
• Work with Engineering to support the implementation of new equipment, equipment refurbishment or upgrade. Provide feedback on the effectiveness of the implementation of special projects. Provide feedback on the feasibility of new projects and their potential impact on ongoing production.
• Supervise and assist in the training of employees in the production processes. Provide coaching and leading on an ongoing basis in a consistent and constructive manner
• Keep union stewards up to date on potential issues and problem solve with them to address employee concerns and issues.
• Champion Lean principles to improve processes through incremental change
• Provide guidance to ensure Lean practices are applied to optimize performance and to achieve the common goal
• Identify opportunities for improvement within the cell and work with the LEAN Promotion Officer to develop process and tools to initiate the continuous improvement

As a qualified candidate, you meet the following requirements:
• 5+ years of Production Planning experience
• 3+ years of Management experience in a manufacturing environment
• College diploma or University degree in Business or Operations Management
• Experience working in a high volume manufacturing environment
• Experience working within automotive or other industrial manufacturing industry
