The Project Manager of Transportation & Trade Compliance ensures the smooth traffic of goods around the globe at optimized cost and emissions while taking into account transport regulations such as dangerous goods and waste. Responsibilities
The Project Manager of Transportation is responsible for delivering large and complex logistic projects in compressed time frames.
•Deliver role responsibilities by developing a thorough understanding of the needs, flows, and logistic requirements of the new site.
•Analyze complex and challenging problems to assess business opportunities and make recommendations regarding strategy or implementation plans.
•Initiate the make-or-buy decision while taking into account the scalability of the logistics solutions chosen.
•Create a cross-functional core team and align on project scope.
• Develop a project plan and align with the core team and steering committee
•Responsible for the schedule, budget, and cross-functional team members to ensure the completion of the project within the specified time frame
•Monitor and report on project progress, and identify and resolve issues as they arise. Identify lead-time constraints, and take corrective action to remedy any issues
with project delivery. Ensure risk mitigation.
•Responsible for procurement activities for logistics providers, negotiating contracts and rates with vendors and service providers
•Provide knowledge and expertise to the Company’s Centre of Excellence Transportation (transportation and external warehousing)
•Drive continuous improvement in order to assure operation excellence and compliance with transport regulations (dangerous goods and waste) within the team
Qualifications
Functional requirements
•Master degree (economics, sciences, …) required with a focus in logistics, supply chain, compliance and/or transportation preferred.
•Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus, working knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean principles is required
•5+ years of substantial and direct-functional experience in logistics
•Validated project management experience is required
•Confirmed experience in directing and strengthening logistic processes and procedure
•Experience working for a large, diverse multinational is preferred. Experience working in at least an international environment is required.
•Knowledge of transportation processes, functioning of different transportation modes, available transportation solutions and transportation systems
•Understanding market trends regarding digitalization and sustainable transport.
•Knowledge of following regulations: customs, transport, Dangerous Goods, and Transboundary Waste Shipments.
•In-depth knowledge of transportation market and cost drivers
•In-depth knowledge of procurement processes
•Fluent in English, other languages are a plus
•Excellent Microsoft office skills (PowerPoint, Excel, …)
•Prior experience with global transportation systems
